Jason E. Portnof DMD, MD, FACS

Jason E. Portnof DMD, MD, FACS completed his undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and received his doctorate in dental medicine (DMD) with honors from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. His medical school training (MD) was completed at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery and an internship in general surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital/ Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Dr. Portnof completed a fellowship in pediatric maxillofacial surgery/ craniomaxillofacial surgery in the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery, Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. Currently Dr. Portnof is Associate Professor, Director of Predoctoral Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Director of Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine. He also holds an appointment as Affiliate Assistant Professor of Clinical Biomedical Science in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University.

He is on staff at multiple hospitals in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami/Dade Counties. In addition, Dr. Portnof has joined the Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital's Cleft and Craniofacial Team and serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (FCPA) as the Counselor for Dentistry.

Prior to moving to south Florida, Dr. Portnof was full time faculty of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Beth Israel Medical Center and Jacobi Medical Center. He was an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Dentistry and Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery of Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a Clinical Instructor in Surgery (Oral & Maxillofacial) at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Portnof is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

His interests include the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with an emphasis on correction of dentofacial deformities, orthognathic and maxillofacial reconstructive surgery, Temporomandibular joint reconstructive surgery, oral and maxillofacial pathology, and complex dental implantology. Dr. Portnof has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and presented both nationally and internationally.
